Rockhaven Drills 11.30 G/T Gold And 233 G/T Silver (16.0 G/T Gold EQ) Over 1.52 M At Pika Zone, Klaza Property, Yukon

November 1, 2012 - Rockhaven Resources Ltd. (TSX-V:RK) (“Rockhaven”) is pleased to announce additional results from its 100% owned Klaza gold-silver property located in the Dawson Gold Belt of southern Yukon. The new assay results are from diamond drill holes that tested new precious metal bearing structures (Pika, Dickson, Chevron, Herc and AEX Zones) that parallel the more advanced BRX and Klaza Zones (see recent Rockhaven news releases). New highlights include:

  • Significant expansion of the Pika Zone to a drill indicated strike length of 740 m, with new intercepts up to 11.30 g/t gold and 233 g/t silver (16.0 g/t gold EQ) over 1.52 m;
  • Additional high-grade gold and silver results from step-out drilling on the Dickson Zone, including 7.08 g/t gold and 127 g/t silver (9.62 g/t gold EQ) over 1.00 m; and,
  • Discovery of the Chevron Zone, with the first trench exposure returning 6.25 g/t gold and 319 g/t silver (12.6 g/t gold EQ) across a true width of 2.61 m.
Drilling at the Klaza property has now identified eight main mineralized zones, which are flanked by numerous subsidiary gold-silver bearing structures. Results from the new holes increase the cumulative mineralized strike lengths of the main zones to 8.6 km. Individual zones range from 1 to 75 m in width and are continuously mineralized over strike lengths of 250 to 2400 m. All zones remain open for extension along strike and to depth.

Pika Zone

The Pika Zone is located 75 m north of the BRX Zone and was discovered by Rockhaven in 2010. This zone hosts one or two discrete vein structures that have been tested by 10 diamond drill holes and 5 excavator trenches over a 740 m strike length to a maximum depth of 250 m below surface. Significant assays have been received from 9 of 10 holes that tested the Pika Zone, as shown in the table below. Four of the 2012 holes also intersected the BRX Zone higher in the hole. Results from the BRX Zone will be released once compiled in association with previous assay releases.

Dickson and AEX Zones

The Dickson and AEX Zones are located 300 m and 100 m south of the BRX Zone, respectively. Both zones were discovered by Rockhaven in 2012 and both host numerous vein structures.

The Dickson Zone has been tested by eight holes in two areas located approximately 1500 m apart. These drill areas lie within the same 3,000 m long, geophysical and multi-element soil geochemical anomaly. The deepest intercept on the Dickson Zone is 100 m down dip of surface and returned 7.08 g/t gold and 127 g/t silver (9.62 g/t gold EQ) over 1.00 m. Further drilling is needed between the two areas to confirm continuity.

The AEX Zone has been tested by 12 holes that have traced mineralization over a 1650 m strike length to a maximum depth of 310 m. Some intercepts on this zone were previously announced (see Rockhaven news release dated October 2, 2012). Eight holes also tested the BRX Zone further down the hole. Results from the BRX Zone will be released once interpreted.

Significant assays from the holes that tested the Dickson and AEX Zones are shown in the table below.

Chevron Zone

The Chevron Zone, discovered by Rockhaven in 2012, is located 400 m south of the BRX Zone and 100 m south of the Dickson Zone. It hosts multiple vein structures that have been tested by two diamond drill holes and one excavator trench over a 250 m strike length. The excavator trench returned 6.25 g/t gold and 319 g/t silver (12.6 g/t gold EQ) across a true width of 2.61 m. The significant drill results from the Chevron Zone are shown in the table below.

Scout Drilling

A total of seven holes were drilled in 2011 and 2012 to the west of the main drill areas to test below and along strike of strongly clay-altered zones exposed by placer mining operations. Although most of these holes intersected prospective structures, only three returned encouraging assays. Results are shown on the table below.

The 2012 exploration program at the Klaza property included a total of 22,206 m of diamond drilling in 73 holes. Results from 40 of the 2012 holes were previously reported (see Rockhaven news releases dated August 23, 2012, October 2, 2012 and October 10, 2012). Results are still pending for 14 holes from the BRX Zone. Maps showing drill hole locations and cross sections can be viewed on Rockhaven’s website at www.rockhavenresources.com.

The Klaza property is located 50 km west of Carmacks in southern Yukon and is road accessible by a two-wheel drive road from the Klondike Highway. The property is favourably situated within the Mt. Nansen gold camp, a district that hosts an extensive system of gold-silver veins and active placer gold mining. Systematic excavator trenching and widely-spaced drilling have only explored approximately 20% of the 66 sq km property. Untested soil geochemical anomalies and geophysical targets suggest there is good potential for additional discoveries elsewhere on the property.

Core samples from the Klaza property are being processed in 36 sample batches with each batch including two assay standards, two blank samples, and two duplicate samples. Trench samples from the property are also processed in 36 sample batches with each batch including one assay standard and one blank sample. Analytical work is being done by ALS Minerals with sample preparation in Whitehorse and assays and geochemical analyses in North Vancouver. All samples are routinely analyzed for gold by fire assay followed by atomic absorption (Au-AA24) and 48 other elements by four acid digestion (ME-MS61). All overlimit values are determined for gold by fire assay and gravimetric finish (Au-GRA22) and for silver using Ag-OG46. All gold and silver grades reported in this release were calculated from the assay results. All standard, blank and duplicate samples passed QAQC reviews. Individual check assaying of core samples from the Klaza property is being done at ACME Labs in Vancouver.

The 2012 program is being conducted by Archer, Cathro & Associates (1981) Limited. Technical information in this news release has been reviewed by Heather Burrell, B.Sc., P.Geo., a qualified person for the purpose of National Instrument 43-101.
